Exhibitors and attendees united to support The Great American Milk Drive at the International Dairy Show earlier this month in Chicago. Attendees visited the Cyber Café, sponsored by the Milk Processor Education Program, to make donations that helped to deliver thousands of servings of much-needed milk to hungry families across the country.

The Great American Milk Drive is the first national campaign designed to help deliver nutrient-rich milk to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization and its network of food banks. The industry’s efforts are making an important impact in local communities, as milk is one of the items most requested, but rarely donated.

“We are proud to see the industry uniting around The Great American Milk Drive, both at the International Dairy Show and beyond,” said Julia Kadison, CEO of MilkPEP. “Together, this relevant and impactful cause has an opportunity to not only impact the health of families in need by delivering much-needed milk to local food banks, but it can also contribute to the health of our industry.”

“With 46.5 million Americans facing hunger, we know there is more work to be done and we’ve seen many industry members supporting The Great American Milk Drive beyond the show with successful retail partnerships, local events, social media efforts, company match donations and much more,” said Victor Zaborsky, vice president of marketing for MilkPEP. “We are looking forward to continuing to partner with additional industry members to support the cause.”

Additional Opportunities for Industry Support

Dairy professionals who did not attend the show can still support the industry cause by donating online, joining the conversation on social media and learning more about how the drive is helping hungry communities in each state.
