In celebration of National Ice Cream Month, IDFA created a fun promotional video for its ice cream company members as a part of its social media plan. Using footage from the 32nd Annual Capitol Hill Ice Cream Party, the video features interviews with several Hill staffers, IDFA members and partygoers enjoying great flavors donated by members. The video captures comments about favorite flavors and toppings, possible innovations and ways to celebrate this month.

“I plan to celebrate National Ice Cream Month by consuming ice cream probably as my three servings of three-a-day dairy,” said Lucas Fuess, a dairy analyst for Glanbia USA and a member of IDFA’s NextGEN Dairy Network.

The video can be viewed on IDFA’s YouTube channel. It was produced by Molly Pfaffenroth, IDFA’s communications intern, and Julia Al-Akkad, the interviewer and video editor. IDFA shared the video on Facebook and Twitter, and encourages member companies to share it on their social media pages for their own celebrations of National Ice Cream Month.

The video is just one of the many ways that IDFA is adding to the celebration.

IDFA is also sponsoring a photo contest on Instagram, a social media photo-sharing site. Followers on Instagram @dairyidfa are invited to share photos that show how they are celebrating National Ice Cream Month and tag @dairyidfa. Each Friday in July, the person whose photo receives the most “likes” will receive free ice cream. The current winners are Vilcek Foundation and Cooking Planit.

“Thank you to our member companies who are helping to promote National Ice Cream Month by sharing our photo contest information, retweeting our ice cream tweets and posting our fun new video,” said Peggy Armstrong, IDFA vice president of communications.
