To help U.S. companies comply with requirements from the Chinese government, the Food and Drug Administration announced in January it was establishing a list of milk product manufacturers and processors with an interest in exporting milk products to China. The agency now is asking for feedback on the extent that the application process for inclusion on this list causes burdens for U.S. companies.

FDA began accepting applications in January and plans to update the list in December of each even-numbered year. Listed companies will receive a letter asking them to verify or update their information and indicate whether they want to continue being listed. FDA has had a similar policy in place since 2005 for U.S. companies that export milk and milk products to Chile.

Companies may submit comments directly to FDA here. Members interested in having IDFA submit comments on behalf of the dairy foods industry may contact John Allan, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs and international standards, at jallan@idaf.org.
