Each year the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) presents honor awards to its employees and, more rarely, to industry professionals whose efforts and accomplishments have made significant contributions to achieving the Center’s goals.

Clay Detlefsen, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs, received yesterday the 2013 CFSAN Director’s Special Citation Award for “sustained exemplary leadership within the food industry to improve food defense awareness, outreach and implementation.”

This is the third award Detlefsen has received in the past 12 months for his outstanding work with federal agencies.
