FDA Confirms Some FSMA Compliance Dates Will Wait for Final Rules

The Food and Drug Administration delivered clarity this week on the timeline for implementing new provisions for preventive controls and foreign supplier verification, which are required under the Food and Safety Modernization Act. Although the act calls for the provisions to take effect July 3, 2012, FDA said it would announce the compliance timeframe in the final rules, which aren't expected to be released any time soon.
