The Milk Processor Education Program has announced the winners of the 2010 Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Awards. The SAMMY Award scholarships, sponsored by MilkPEP in partnership with USA TODAY, are given annually to 25 high school student-athletes who are top performers in academics, athletics, community service and leadership, and who include milk on their training tables. This year, more than 40,000 high school seniors applied for the SAMMY Award.

Whether it's chocolate milk as a post-exercise recovery drink, low-fat milk over cereal or an afternoon latte with fat-free milk, SAMMY Award winners know that smart choices like eating right, exercising and drinking low-fat milk will help them stay at the top of their game in the classroom and sports.

Each winner will receive a $7,500 college scholarship and an invitation to attend an award ceremony at Walt Disney World featuring former SAMMY winner and bronze medal bobsledder Elana Meyers. The weekend activities will conclude with a special awards ceremony hosted by two Milk Mustache celebrity guests: Chauncey Billups, NBA All-Star and Denver Nuggets point guard, and Shawn Johnson, Olympic gold medal gymnast.

All winners will star in a special Milk Mustache ad in USA TODAY on June 25.

"I am continually impressed with our SAMMY Award winners and am delighted to reward and recognize these 25 exceptional student athletes," said Vivien Godfrey, MilkPEP CEO. "SAMMY Award winners exemplify the benefits of making smart choices like choosing low-fat milk, which provides nine essential nutrients they need."
