Are You Ready for Your Next FDA Inspection?

Oct 30, 2013

New rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act will dramatically increase the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s access to the records of dairy foods companies during onsite inspections. A company’s records will need to be clear, complete and readily accessible to FDA inspectors.

To help dairy companies prepare for their next inspection under new FSMA rules, IDFA is hosting a webinar, “Food Safety Modernization Act: Good Recordkeeping Practices,” November 19, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Eastern time as part of its webinar series on FSMA implementation.

Webinar participants will hear from food safety expert Joe Levitt, a partner at Hogan Lovells US LLP and former director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). He will review the steps needed to get or keep a facility’s recordkeeping process in shape for inspections under FSMA and recommend daily practices for successful recordkeeping. In addition, Levitt will provide key principles for creating records of particular significance under FSMA and outline key effective dates for compliance.

“Good records can mean the difference between having a successful FDA inspection and having a poor one,” said Clay Detlefsen, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs. “IDFA will continue to engage with member companies throughout the FSMA implementation process to enable successful compliance with new rules and regulations.”
