In response to member demand, IDFA is once again pleased to present the Dairy Product Labeling Webinar Series.
Dairy company staff must know the specific requirements of labeling dairy foods to avoid the waste and costly fines that result from mislabeling! IDFA's Labeling Webinar Series will supply you and your staff with the data you need to produce compliant and effective labels for your products. The two short sessions, Introduction to Labeling and Labeling Hot Topics, will be interactive, allowing for participants questions, and each session will include a hands-on exercise reviewing new updated examples of milk, ice cream and cheese label examples.

Labeling 101- An Introduction to Dairy Product Labeling

This seminar will give you a general overview of dairy labeling regulations. Topics will include the history and jurisdiction for labeling regulations, requirements for the statement of identity, net quantity of contents statements, ingredient declarations allergens labeling, and special labeling terms and symbols such as Grade "A," the Real Seal and kosher. This session will also cover nutrient labeling pitfalls, including the basics of nutrition facts format, required and voluntary nutrients, calculating serving sizes and trans fat declarations.

Hot Topics: FDA's Enforcement Focus, Organic Labeling, rbST Claims, Health Claim Opportunities and Proposed Anti-Obesity Labeling Regulations

The second seminar in our series will provide background information on the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) enforcement focus for food labeling. Also learn the basics of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Organic Food Program requirements, labeling guidelines for organic dairy products, and natural and rbST claims. We will also look at FDA approved health and nutrient content claims and how to best leverage the health and nutrition superiority of dairy foods. Finally, we'll review recent requirements for allergen labeling and what future changes could be expected for food labels.
What is IDFA Webinar?
IDFA Webinar is a series of short seminars conducted via conference call and online presentation. You'll listen to the presenter via the call, while viewing the slides online. Our presenters will be able to highlight important points and answer questions via the Internet. These seminars will be offered in a series format covering two topics over a two-week period.
This series will run for two consecutive weeks, on Tuesday from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm Eastern Time. Registration for Webinar provides you access to both sessions.
Each Webinar session is two-and-one-half hours in duration, with 120 minutes allotted for the presentation, and 30 minutes for a question-and-answer period. The seminar is delivered over the telephone for reliable and clear sound quality. PowerPoint presentations will be accessed online during the seminar. All slides from the presentations can be easily downloaded for future reference. The question-and-answer session provides an opportunity for you to ask questions as well as hear questions relating to issues that you may be currently facing or facing in the future.
