IDFA's GrassRoots Action Network for Dairy (GRAND)

WHAT IS GRAND?

IDFA's grassroots program, the Grass Roots Action Network for Dairy (GRAND), is an effective way for IDFA member companies to learn about priority dairy issues and grow relationships with their legislators. The core elements of GRAND include educating dairy company employees on the issues affecting the industry and ultimately their jobs, communicating on the issues to elected officials in Congress and building relationships with lawmakers.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Involvement in GRAND is more important than ever as IDFA works to strengthen our industry's grassroots network to ensure that sound dairy policies are enacted. IDFA encourages all member companies to get involved with GRAND by taking the following easy steps:

  • Identify a GRAND Key Contact, a person within your company whom IDFA can communicate with about grassroots involvement on dairy issues. Click here to find out more on becoming a GRAND Key Contact.
  • Educate your employees on dairy policy issues by sharing News Update stories and other relevant information. Click here to sign up for News Update.
  • Respond to IDFA Action Alerts by writing letters, sending emails or making phone calls to your elected officials on important issues. Click here to write a letter on priority dairy issues.
  • Invite your elected officials to tour your dairy plants so they get a better understanding of how your company operates.

The GRAND Pioneer Award

The GRAND Pioneer Award, established in 2001, recognizes IDFA member companies that demonstrate outstanding achievement in the area of political involvement and grassroots action. Past winners of the GRAND Pioneer Award include Prairie Farms Dairy, The Schwan Food Company and Wells' Dairy, Inc.
