FDA Accepts All PMO Changes Passed at NCIMS Spring Meeting

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) last week accepted all 56 proposals that the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments (NCIMS) state delegates adopted at the biennial NCIMS conference last May. IDFA and more than 50 Milk Industry Foundation members had advocated for the changes, which will update the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) and other NCIMS documents that directly affect state inspection of Grade A dairy farms and plants. The changes, which will take effect October 2008, will provide more flexibility for dairy processors. To read the FDA memorandum (IMS-a-46) announcing the changes, click here.
