Overview

The U.S. dairy industry is complex, with dynamic trends in farm production, processing, consumption patterns, and government regulations. If you're trying to get a better handle on what makes dairy tick, attend this one-day Dairy Industry Orientation meeting with seasoned instructor Dr. Bob Yonkers, IDFA Vice President and Chief Economist. All dairy professionals who are new to the industry or who want to expand their knowledge of the industry, including professionals in sales and marketing, legislative affairs, procurement, research and development, and plant operations.

Learn what's happening in today's complex and ever-changing dairy foods market. In this session, you'll receive a broad overview of recent trends in the dairy industry, including what's happening on the farms and what's new in processing, sales and consumption, and international trade.

Dairy Policies and Programs
Dairy farms and processing plants must meet many stringent regulations, so "the basics" in this industry are far from basic. This session is designed to be a primer on all federal, state and local regulations that govern current dairy policies and programs. International trade regulations also will be reviewed.

Milk from Farm to Consumer
Learn how raw milk moves from the farm to the retail shelves as various dairy products. This session will follow milk's transport, starting at the farm, moving to the processing plant and ending at the supermarket.
